BackgroundKatsu was raised by his two loving parents in Japan. His parents were detectives that worked together to solve crimes. They always made sure that they would spend time with Katsu but often worked extremely long hours and would leave Katsu by himself. From an early age Katsu stood out from all of the other kids. In primary school he would always score top in his class with extreme ease. He was a small kid who wasn't very active or athletic. He relied on his intelligence more than his physical side. He had no friends and was often considered an outcast from the other kids. At lunch he did not go out to play with the other children but rather solved complex equations to improve his mind. Some other kids would pick on Katsu because of his individuality but he didn't mind. In fact he liked the challenge of outwitting them and making them look like fools. When Katsu had time to spend with his parents they spent time looking over crime cases. Katsu had always expressed his interest in detective work and he would often find things about the cases that his parents had missed. Katsu grew older and eventually entered high school.
Katsu had now become even more intellectual and topped the school in every area that required the mind. He was hopeless at physical activities and never participated in any of them. Katsu began to be able to tell what others were thinking in high school. He would always win at rock - paper - scissors because he could read the other person, their movements, their expressions and every factor about the person to quickly figure out the persons move. He never lost a game of chess. He could always tell what the opponent was going to do next. He figured out the persons plan nearly before they did and could quickly think of nearly every possible scenario that could occur. He began to help his parents solve hard cases regularly at home and was always able to figure out the answers his parents were not able to find.
It was in Katsu's second high school year when the Kira killings started. His parents secretly worked on the case even though they knew they were risking their lives. They didn't want Katsu to become involved in capturing Kira because they did not want to see harm come to him. They kept the investigation a secret from him. They had been investigating Kira for over a year now and Katsu was 15 years old. That night Katsu's parents went out late at night and told him that it was for work. Katsu instantly knew something was strange because his parents had scarily serious looks on their faces. They told Katsu they loved him and they went out. Two days later his parents had not come back and Katsu was worrying about them. He knew something wasn't right he could feel it they had never been away this long. The news came on and announced that Katsu's parents had died from heart attacks. Katsu went into a state of shock and had to stay at his grandparent's house. Katsu knew that Kira had done this. He knew his parents must have gotten close to discovering Kira's identity and Kira killed them. It took Katsu 57 days to recover and return to normal.
After his recovery Katsu left his grandparents house by himself determined to catch Kira. He knew that he could do it. Nobody knew where he went and it was in the time he was missing that he took the name of Katsu, meaning victory. Two years later and Katsu is a solo detective with one goal, to catch Kira and beat him.
Kira may think Katsu is small, very young and look weak and greatly underestimates him but he is the one person that Kira does not want to have trying to beat him.
By the way this better be good it took me like 2 and a half hours to come up with all this information.
