The New Hanging Spot

((The next day after the nightclub scene.))

Airi entered the cafe at about ten in the morning. There werent many people there due to how early it was. She picked an empty table away from any windows. While she waiting for the waiter to come, she took off her jacket and placed it on the back of the chair. Once the waiter came, she ordered Anmitsu, a traditional Japanese dessert. It only toke minutes for it to be made. She sat there and ate while reading the newspaper. She could of swore she saw a picture of Kasami.

I wonder where Aram was yesterday. Certainly not at the nightclub. God, iv never gotten really made like that before, when that guy almost forced me to leave. No he did force me to leave. I felt like I was going to slap him or something worst. I was very close to doing that. If I see him again I dont know what ill do. Yesterday was horrible, I hope today will be a little bit better. If I had drunk beer and drove home last night how I did, I would of probably been in the hospital by now. Luckily I hadnt.
She grabs a sketch book out of her bag, she had lyied on the floor next to her. She takes a pen out of her pants' pocket and sketchs the men's face she saw last night, one very familiar and one unfamiliar face. She draws big dark clouds over one face and the moon over the other. Her sketchs almost identical to the real faces.

The dull ring of the bell attached to the door echoed through the empty cafe as Hunter strolled inside. He wasn't surprised about the lack of people within as it was so early in the morning, but if it were given enough time the earlybirds would flock for their beginning doses of caffeine and energy pills. He approached the counter with his hood up and asked the woman at the counter for an iced hazelnut coffee. She nodded in reply and he paid her in cash. In his early morning stupor, he took a seat behind Airi and removed his hood. Once his coffee arrived he took a sip from the straw and peered over his shoulder at the paper she was drawing on, shocked to see the amount of detail put into it... She even got the colors of his heterochromic eyes correct.

Airi continued to drawl. She felt someones eye looking at her. She lifted her head from head work to see if anyone was infront of her. She hadnt turned around but knew someone was behind her. She flipped the page of the sketch book and started a new sketch of the unfamiliar face. She drew not only his face but his body figure and his outfit as she remembered him. This sketch almost better than the other. She liked the sketch and appeared to be sketching a background of a building behind the body figure. Another waiter came to her table asking her if she wanted anything else.''Can I have another Anmitsu, please?''she asked the waiter and the waiter headed to the kitchen.

Hunter watched silently while Airi drew his face and body on her paper, a small smile forming on his face as she did so, "I almost thought that it was a picture." he said, "You're really good at drawing complete strangers, miss." Considering the dark lighting in the club, it surprised him just how much she saw, "I had no idea that you could see so well in low light situations."

The hairs on the end of her neck were standing up. When she heard a voice behind her, she jumped and turned around. She was suprised but not so suprised to see this face again. ''Many have told me I draw well but my work has never been compared to the fine art of technology. Im used to seeing very well in dark rooms and low lighting. I dont fancy bright lights very much.'' she said to him. She turns back around and continues drawling.

"Huh" was all he said in reply after she explained her reason for being used to low light conditions. As she continued to draw he asked, "Why are you drawing me of all people though? And did you ever find that one person you were looking for after I asked you to leave?" he scratched the tip of his nose with an index finger, "I'm sorry if I came off as rude, but if I'm not intimidating people tend not to listen. And in that environment a riot can happen fairly quickly."

She stops drawling and stares at him. She doesnt know how to explain it. ''When I drawl something, I tind to draw it repeatedly. I like to drawl so ill drawl just about anything. I like to draw peoples' faces so ill remember them, no matter how annoying or bad or even evil they are.''she said quietly, mostly to herself. She hands her sketch book to him so he can see the other pictures she sketch of people she meet including her parents' faces.''I was suppose to be meeting Aram at the nightclub last night but never saw him. I havnt seen him since yesterday morning. You can have the picture of you if you want.'' she starts to say. Her face starts to look concerned. The waiter places the dessert on the table and leaves.

Hunter nodded and took the sketch, "It will look good over my fireplace or something." he joked, "But about this Aram guy," he took a sip of his coffee, "Need any help lookin' for him? I'm pretty good at finding people." If the person isn't dead that is.

Airi begins to smile and almost laughed at his joke. She turns back around again and watchs him drink his coffee.''Im pretty sure he isnt missing.''she says to him. She grabs another sketch book out her bag. She sketchs another sketch of this person but this time its him sitting in a chair drinking coffee. While she sketchs she says,''I dont have a cell phone at the moment to call him so ill just walk over to his house after im done here. If he is missing maybe ill come looking for you.'' Once she is done with the sketch, her smile turns sweet. She liked this sketch better than the others. She noticed she hadnt introduced herself and neither did he.''My name is Airi Hoshino by the way. I live just outside of Japan but im suppose to be moving here next week.''she says this with utter respect.

Airi eats her dessert and askes for some coffee. She looks at her sketch again, pleased that her work looked very real. The waiter came back with coffee and left to take someone else's order. While eating her dessert, she couldnt stop thinking about one familiar face, Kasami.
Hmm...I wonder what Kasami is doing now. Probably in the graveyard or sleeping somewhere. He is quite nice and id like to hang out with him again but I dont know where he lives. To bad. Had I actually made a new friend.....? Maybe....

Hunter nodded and replied, "If he is missing, I'll probably be around town doing something or other. Most likely work." he peeked at the other sketch and tilted his head, "Is that me again?" he asked, "If it is, it's pretty good. My name is Damien by the way, and it's a pleasure to meet you, Airi."

Air couldnt help but smile.''Yeah, its you.''she said. ''Damien, huh? Well nice to meet you again.''She stared at him for a while. She could tell he was lieing by just looking at him.''To be quite honest. I like drawling you. Your a great......subject.''She took a sip of her coffee and studied his expression.

Hunter finished his coffee and checked his watch, having only thirty minutes before he had to start his shift as a dishwasher at the restaurant down the street, "What is it that makes be interesting as a subject though?" he paused once he noticed Airi staring at him, "Do I have something on my face?" he asked.

''Well you have a great body figure, an interesting personality which you can see looking at my sketchs of you, and.....my sketchs of you shows spirit. You right now are just a mask but my sketchs show more than what you want to show and what you want people to know.''she explains to him. She smiles at him.''Well I have to go and im sure your need somewhere else.''Airi grabs her sketch books, bag, and jacket. She left money on the table for her bill and left out the cafe door in a hurry towards the dirrection of Aram's house.

He sat there in thought as she left the Cafe, his eyes watching her as she left, "A mask, huh?" he muttered, "And by drawing she can expose what I'm too afraid to let people see?" he shook his head and stood abruptly, his hands jammed into his pockets, "That's nonsense. Me afraid?" he pushed open the door and turned to his left, down to the traditional restaurant he worked at as a cover up, "I'm almost late now." he said, reaching into his pocket for a cigarette. He clamped it in between his teeth and flicked his zippo on, the glow illuminating his face.

Beyond was already in the cafe when he saw someone walk inside. He had just finished eating his food but still had his milkshake to finish. The guy looked tough... like he'd been through a lot in such a short time because Beyond could see he was young.
What an interesting guy...

Airi still walking almost invisible thinking about her childhood. When she noticed where she was she stopped walking. Since she had a couple of hours to get to the location given on the card, she stopped by the cafe. She pushed open the door and sat at the same table as earlier. She picked through her bag for her sketch book. She flips through the pages, looking over the sketchs shes drawn in the last couple of days. She was amazed with how much sketchs she had done in a short period of time. She drew a new sketch, this time it being her, Kasami, and Damien. The sketch coming out more well than she thought it would. She ordered her dessert and waited for the waiter to come back.

The waiter placed the coffee on the table and left. Airi took a drink of her coffee and sat back in the chair. She took a couple of breathes then sipped more of her coffee.
So far so good.
She grabs her labtop from her bag and placed it onto the table. She looks up crimes by Kira and finds millions of hits.
Wow I hadnt noticed this many crimes have been happening by Kira......I wonder what happened to the Death Note, Nansee had 3 years ago. Maybe someone took it. Did her parents find it and hide it? Hmmm...

Time to start heading out.
Airi packed her labtop and left money on the table. She finished her coffee and started for the door. She took the card with the location on it out of her pocket and read it. She headed down the street to the location given. She didnt expect anyone to be around since she was coming a bit early.
