Bio: Born in a small town outside of Illinois, Chicago, Roger lived a simple life. His dad John was a famous detective who solved many of America’s biggest cases. His mother Julie was a local news reporter who occasionally was allowed to report on a national level. Despite his parents’ jobs making the Orosco family filthy rich, he was never spoiled by his family. He lived in a small house with the basic necessities. Never given everything that he wanted, Roger learned early that if he wanted something bad enough, he was going to have to work for it. Throughout his childhood he was never fully accepted by any of his peers, but in high school he became more active in activities both in and out of school.
Three days after his fifteenth birthday, both his parents were killed in building bombing. He was devastated. For months, he was not the same person. To his friends he showed the same old Roger, but to his family members, he was deeply hurt and could not think straight. This led to his search for justice. Throughout his remaining high school years and first year of college, he used knowledge his dad had taught him about sleuthing to find the person who set the explosives on the building that killed his parents. Everyone in his hometown was sure he would follow his dad’s footsteps and become a detective.
Yet, he did not become a detective. He finished college with a major in computer science and a minor in law. Now, he uses the money his parents saved up to travel the world, talking to people who knew his parents. He enjoys doing this, but feels like he has a purpose that he must find somewhere in the world. The few objects that he must have are the best objects on the market. He is never afraid to travel with these objects. Before any big moment in his life, he always holds onto the one object that is always on his person: his father’s pocket watch.
Sample: “Ah, graduation day! I never thought you would come.” Roger said aloud, packing his personal possessions into a suitcase. His roommate Luke looked at him with a wild expression on his face, saying, “Dude, are you okay? We still have a week till graduation.” He looked at Luke, and both men started to laugh. “Come on, you know I’ve had the date memorized since the first day of school.” He chuckled, continuing to pack his things, finding things that remind both of them of the years they spent together.
“Well, bud, I guess this is goodbye.” Roger said to Luke, completing their secret handshake. “Man, these last four years flew by, huh?” Luke said with a smile. “Yea, soared by. And it’s only gonna get better from here.” Roger replied, pulling out his father’s pocket watch. “Well, it’s time to start getting ready for the big ceremony.” He said, closing the door behind him. Luke just stared at him and said, “Good luck.” Roger smiled and said, “Same to you.” Both went their separate ways.
Roger walked to the back of the auditorium to get to the room he had reserved for him to get dressed in. He noticed that the auditorium was strangely empty as he walked into the room. “Funny, it’s normally locked.” He thought to himself, opening the door. He found nothing inside of the room, went to turn around, and found a man standing in doorway. Without any words said, Roger knew it was one of the men who had helped blow up the building his parents were in. The man just looked at Roger and pulled out a gun. Instantly, Roger threw himself to the left wall, letting the bullet the man shot fly by. The man ran at Roger, but Roger had a trick up his sleeve. Roger grabbed the man by the shoulders, threw him down, and ran out the building.
(Wow, that's a lot longer than I expected.)
