Role Play Sample:
A loud clap of thunder resonated through the dark night sky as the man known as Hunter Kieff strolled through the streets. The only light to be seen was the dim amber glow of the cigarette that hung loosely between his lips. It seemed strange to most that a smoker would light up in the middle of a thunderstorm, but the ember was protected by the hood he had covering his head. With each step he took, one would be able to hear the sloshing of his black combat boots when he stepped into a puddle, "Why did it have to rain today of all days?" He asked the night sky, hoping silently for some kind of answer from above. He didn't really expect an answer, but it was nice to think that someone would respond. If anything he really needed to hear his little brother's voice again, however he knew that it wouldn't ever come true. His dream was wishful thinking at best.
Several minutes passed as the man wandered until he reached the headstone of a long gone but very missed individual. Upon looking over the text, the name read 'Damien Kieff'. Hunter could feel the hot tears stinging at the back of his eyes and he made an attempt to hold them back, but to no avail. Even though he stared straight-faced at the name, his tears streamed down his face, mixing with the plentiful rainwater. The young man got down on one knee and brushed his fingers along the writing so he could feel every letter, every bump or imperfection. Each bump or crack was another reminder of his failure, a message that he wasn't fit to take care of anything but himself. And most of all it was a mission. A mission to ensure that no other child would have to suffer the abuse that he suffered, the pain of being beaten by a man who was supposed to make sure that nothing bad happened to them. Every time he watched the news of a man beating, or molesting one of his own children made Hunter sick to his stomach. He wished that he could just end the scum's life with a twitch of a finger. However, he couldn't be everywhere at once. He wasn't a god or omnipotent being. He was just a man with access to weaponry... And even that would be traceable. In order to fulfill his duty as a conduit for the murder of monsters, he needed a way to be un-traceable. He needed to be a ghost rather than a snake.
Then from what seemed like nowhere, Hunter heard the wet thud of an object against the soaked earth. At first he assumed that it was a bit of rubbish tossed from a window, but upon further inspection he saw what looked like a notebook that lay face down in the mud and water. He gingerly plucked the book from its resting place and wiped the grime from the cover, "Death Note?" He said, his voice hushed. Shortly after reading the cover, Hunter opened the notebook so he could read the inside of it. There were rules written there, set in the leather. the young man was surprised to see that even though it sat in the murk, it was completely clean on the inside. The drops of water that landed on the pages seemed to roll right off instead of soaking in. Hunter felt the pages for any traces of wax or waterproofing, but it was just paper. That was his first suspicion that the book was nothing to be joked around with. In an attempt to clarify what he read earlier, Hunter began to recite the rules aloud
"The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, it will happen.
If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds"
It was amazing... All of a sudden, he was given the means to exact revenge on all who have wronged their children be it abuse, neglect or abandonment. With this notebook, Hunter could change lives for the better. He could make people his puppets, conduits, familiars. He could do just about anything that he wanted unless there was some form or police service that specialized in the occult or supernatural... But that would be more than ridiculous.

Several days after receiving his Death Note, Hunter began watching programs that featured men and women alike that were accused of abusing their children. If they were proven guilty, he would pass a bit of judgment on his own... Just as he was about to scribble a random name into the book, the news broke into the program. From what he could see, there was a man standing in what looked like an elementary school. He was pointing a gun at the head of one of the children, threatening to "Blow her fucking head off!" The police were locked away from the school, too afraid to breach the perimeter. Hunter couldn't blame them, however. There was a child's life at stake. Then the camera zoomed in on the man's frightened face, revealing him as "James Lecastro" The anchor began to read off several of the man's previous convictions that didn't really catch Hunter's attention until one in particular. Lecastro was convicted for the rape of a young girl, but later released on a technicality. It seemed that everybody but the court system knew that Lecastro was guilty... And he still got away! The thought of such a waste of flesh still walking the earth infuriated Hunter, and he could feel his whole body shaking with rage.
Without a second's hesitation, Hunter wrote the name 'James Lecastro' into the first line of the Death Note and went on to detail his cause of death.
"James Lecastro... Cause of death: Suicide.
After reflecting on the wrong he inflicted on his earlier victim, he was overcome with self hate and remorse for what he did. He releases the child and places the barrel of his pistol into his mouth before pulling the trigger, causing a spray of blood and gore to decorate the back wall. However he did not die instantly from the impact and fell directly onto his face, screaming and writhing in agony, blood and bits of broken teeth would pour from his mouth and wound to form a macabre puddle on the white tiles. With his final reserves of strength, Lecastro would dip his fingers into the crimson liquid and begin writing a message for everyone to see and it would read:
'I am scum, I am a rapist and I do not deserve my life.
The Suicide King has heeded my last request to be freed from this mortal coil.
In my intense suffering I have known the pain I inflicted on my victim and I am truly sorry.
Praise his name, let it be known that others like me will suffer the same fate.
The Suicide King will do his best to remove the scum from existence.'
Then he will close his eyes and shoot himself once again, this time successfully ending his life."
Hunter waited for the note to take effect, and just as he had began to lose hope in it his writings were true. The man acted out his scenario to the letter... At first he was shocked and horrified at the sight, but as time went by he began to enjoy the power of being able to control a being in their last moments. He could feel a rush of endorphins filling his mind and to him it was better than any drug on earth. Not even the greatest heroin could overtake the high that he felt. This first kill marked an age that most men and women would come to fear... For if they weren't careful, the Suicide King would rip the life right from their wretched bodies, "My new world begins now..."
