PostSubject: Strawberry Cheese Cake   Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:44 am

From in side the coffee shop the window looked like a gloomy painting. Rain pored down from gray clouds and the city was to dark for early afternoon. Violet sat in a booth by the window her hair dripped onto the table.

"Sure is raining hard out there." Said the waitress who came to take violets order. "What can i get you?"

Violet nodded in agreement, "I'll have a coffee black with two sugars, and a slice of strawberry cheese cake."

"Cheese cake? Special day?" The waitress asked a cheerful smile on her face.

The purple haired girl smiled back and replied, "My birthday."

With a 'happy birthday' the waitress walked away taking care of other people. Violet went back to watching the world beond the window. She thanked the woman when her oder arived and quietly sipped her coffee. The cheese cake stared at her from her plate. Her late husband would always bring her strawberry cheese cake for breakfast on her birthday. She took a spoon full of the cake and smiled a sad smile before taking a bite.
'Happy birthday...' She could almost hear him say.

The bell to the cafe's door would ring, a young, white-haired thin boy would walk through first, and shortly after him a larger black-haired man would walk in as well, now folding up the large umbrella that they were using to shield themselves from the rain.
The boy sighed as he dusted a few water drops off of his thin leather jacket. With his jacket being leather, the water didn't seep in, so he was practically brushing off the droplets.

Hitoshi: "Finally... someplace normal and uneventful..."
The boy spoke quietly to himself as he slowly made his way to the booth right behind the female. He slowly slid into his booth, the tall man standing by as he did.

Hitoshi: "James, just sit down you nit-wit... I highly doubt someone is going to attack me here.."
The boy said as he leaned against his hand, resting his elbow on the table as he gazed out the window.

James: "Never underestimate the chances of an attack, sir.. but I suppose I'll sit..."
The tall man spoke as he slowly slid in across from the boy, he was obviously still on full alert though.

The very same waitress who took the other of the female that sat in front of them approached their table.

Waitress: "Hey, what can I get'cha two?"
She asked, smiling between the two.

James: "Tea will be fine, thank you.."
James spoke for both himself and Hitoshi, for that was practically what they always did, anywhere.

Hitoshi: "Also.. I'll take a strawberry cheesecake.."
The boy said as he continued to stare out the window.

James: "c-Cheesecake sir..? I thought you did not like sweets?"
James asked looking toward Hitoshi, slightly confused.

Hitoshi: "I don't... but that does not mean I do not enjoy a slice of something every once and awhile... and cheesecake is a definite exception for my lack of sweet tooth..."
The boy said, still gazing out the window as though he was looking for something, or waiting for someone specific to walk by.

The waitress laughed slightly as she wrote down their orders, then heading back to the kitchen area.
A few minutes later, she had returned with a plate of strawberry cheesecake and two cups with a pot of tea, all of which she set down onto our table, sliding a cup to both James and Hitoshi, and then sliding the cake the boy's direction as well. She then smiled and proceeded back.

Hitoshi for a few moments simply continued to stare out the window. He then faintly sighed as he looked toward the cake, gazing at it.

Hitoshi: "... Quite the mess it is out there..."
He said as he slowly picked the strawberry off of the cake, now simply staring at it as it dangled slowly about as he held it from it's stem.

James: "Indeed..."
He spoke as he had already poured both himself and Hitoshi a glass of tea. Now drinking his own.

Hitoshi: "... Must be someone's birthday..."
He said as he took a small bite out of the tip of the strawberry. Hitoshi assumed this simply because it usually poured down rain as well on his own birthday. For that dreadful day was both the day of his mother's death, and his father's. . .

Violet had finished her cheese cake and coffee and stood up from her booth glaceing behind her at the men who had just sat down. She pulled money out of her pocket and left it on the table. Reaching over to grab her bag her foot made contact with a puddle of water and she soon found herself sitting on the floor.

'This day can't get any better.' she thought sighing as she tried to get back up only to hit her head on the table. "Ow..." She muttered, 'I was wrong.' She lazily stood up and grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder, 'what's wrong with me?' she rubbed her head a bump started to form.

The boy slightly glanced over his shoulder as he then looked back at the strawberry.

Hitoshi: "James..."
The boy said quietly.

James: "Understood sir..."
The man then rose from his seat, walking toward the female was he walked in front of her. The man stood tall and slightly muscular as his black glossy hair covered his left eye, his right eye being the only one visible and it's color was a deep, metallic golden-brown.

James: "Excuse me, Milady.. I insist that you have a seat so I may inspect your current damages... A hit like that without one's body being fully prepared for impact can cause mass muscular damage if your lucky, if your unlucky, possibly even skull or cranium fracture..."
The man spoke. He clearly had some form of experience in the medical department. He had gestured toward her seat, requesting that she sat back down for a moment.

'Milady? maybe i hit my head harder then i thought.'

"I thought the best thing to do when being hit is to relax tensing up only leads to more injury." She retorted, "Although I doubt I stood in such a velocity that I gave myself a skull fracture. None-the-less the cafe is spinning so I think I will sit." She added plopping down in her seat.

"Thanks Doc, but I think I will be OK." Violet stated trying to put on a reassuring smile.

James would approach her, pulling two leather gloves from his pockets as he put them on, he then pulled a small mini-flashlight from his pocket and placed it in between his teeth as he began to gently and slowly move her hair around.
After a few moments of that, he finally found where she was hit. Blood had been drawn. He then removed the flashlight as he pulled a smooth oddly refreshingly cold cloth from his pocket, gently pressing it against her head, as the blood had already started to soak up into it.

James: "Relaxing the muscles during impact of the body is generally wise, yes. For you are dealing with nerves, muscles and no matter how much we wish to deny it, body fat as well. All of which are compacted tightly together around the bones, topped off with the lair of skin. When the muscles are relaxed, the motion of impact that is taking place will go right by the muscles and nerves, which causes there to be no form of pain. The body is still struck, but does not suffer pain, and generally the fat absorbs most the impact."
He rambled on, gently and slowly dabbing the location of her wound.

James: "Sadly, however the cranium area does not have so much support. Though the skull is indeed one of the hardest parts of the skeletal structure, it also has it's week points. Which one of them so happens to be in the vicinity of where you hit yourself..."
He said as he removed the cloth for a brief moment, folding it up once more so it may absorb what little blood was still coming.

James: "Luckily for you, however.. do to constant stress of the mind, be it the use for teaching, learning, or even constantly thinking of something, your reflexes took action quick enough for you to adjust yourself just enough to avoid that weak point in the skull. A few stitches, estimation of six, and a patch with anti-infection cream and you're good to go, Milady..."

He then slowly and gently took her hand, guiding her hand to her head as he placed it on the cloth gently, pressing her hand softly to signal her to hold it there as he then pulled from his jacket pocket a silver thin box. Opening it up he pulled a sterile needle from the box, examining her hair color he would pull a small, very mini-sized patch of stitching thread from the box as well that was practically the same color as her hair. He then proceeded to cut six stitches worth of length off as he tied it to the thread as need be, then looking back at the female.

James: "Would you prefer somewhere else to do this, or do you believe here is fine?"
He asked quietly, he was obviously attempting to avoid causing any loud noises to cause further harm to her.

"I have no problem being patched up in a cafe but I'm not to sure about the owners." She glaces over the shoulder of man but no one had noticed her fall. "6 stitches over a table? really that seems a little much. I've hurt myself plenty but not over something so small as a coffee shop table. What are they made of marble?" She glanced at the man sitting at the table who the Doc had been sitting with. "Sure your girlfriend wont mind you doing this in front of her? I don't want to make her feel sick."

James simply began to slowly remove the cloth from her head. He then began to slowly glide the needle and thread through, as he began to slowly and gently stitch the wound.

James: "That is no woman, nor would I claim him to be my 'girlfriend' either, even in the case that he was female... That is sir Hitoshi Tsukuda. Pianist, Violinist, writer.. His work is wide-spread across Japan and in some areas of America as well.."
He spoke softly, as if he was attempting to insure that the boy did not hear. Though he seemed to lost in staring out the window as he swirled the strawberry still by it's stem.

A laugh escaped Violets lips, "Sorry about that, ah well that's cool. But I've never heard of him." She retored looking up at the man who was stiching her head. 'Saves me from doing it myself later.'

"So what brings you to the cafe on such a fine day?" She ask keeping her mind off of what he was doing to her head. Things tend her hurt less if you don't think about them.

James: "Sir Tsukuda desired to take a little rest stop before making our way back to his father's home.. it's a bit of a drive, so he wished to get something to drink first. And obviously, something sweet.."
The man spoke as he finished up the last stitch. He slowly clipped it off as he then tied it down. He then reached for the silver box again, now pulling a bandage and ointment out, he slowly put some of the ointment onto the bandages surface as he then proceeded to gently and slowly place it upon her head.

James: "Alright, I suggest avoiding any direct contact to that vicinity of the skull, any contact to the skull in general in at all possible.. I suggest at least a week tops, that should grant the wound plenty of time to patch itself up just enough to avoid unnecessary and unwanted bleeding."
He said as he began to pack everything back up, putting everything back into his pockets, but he simply threw out the needle and cloth.

James: "Since you have my attention, is there anything else you would like me to look at for you? Any past wounds or checkups that you've missed recently?"

Another laugh, "Maybe you should open a clinic Doc, I've always been a fast healer, i give it three days." She said trying to cover the bandage with her hair. "Thanks for the patch up. but why is a Doctor travelling with a celebrity? Is he sick?" She slowly stood avoiding the puddle this time.

James released a faint chuckle from behind his lips as he closed his eyes, stood tall and straight as he pressed one arm against his gut, slowly taking a half-bow.
James: "I am no doctor, not anymore.. The names' James McFarrel, Milady.."
The last name was no mistake...

James: "I was assigned as sir Tsukuda's bodyguard.. not only do I fit the physical requirements to protect him, but I am also, as you have seen, a doctor.. So, he is both protected from physical harm, and infectious harm.."
He spoke slowly as he stood straight, his tall figure was obviously easy to pick out if one was 'lost' within a crowd of people, and was searching for him.

'McFarrel... the shinigami?' She thought looking the man over.

"Maybe when I'm not injuring myself i'd like to test that other side of you. My names Violet by the way." She joked with a smile. 'Should i ask...?' "By any chance do you know a Alexander McFarrel?" She asked shifting her eyes around to make sure that name didn't catch the ears of others.

James stood blinking a few times as he looked upon the woman.
James: "Well, yes.. that would be the name of my grandfather. He died some years ago, however.. how do you know the name if I may ask?"
James had asked, still gazing at her slightly confused.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, with the blink of an eye, Alexander would appear standing directly behind James. His yellow metallic eyes beaming from behind his dark robe hood as he chuckled, his jaw clanking slightly.
Alexander: "What a surprise... my grandson that I last saw to be no bigger than the length of my arm, now all grown up.. how... humorous..."
He spoke, cackling quietly as he stood a few inches taller than James, glaring at Violet.

Alexander: "Found yourself a new man, woman..?"
Alexander spoke jokingly as he began to laugh faintly, his jaw clanking slightly.

Violet ignored the shinigami not wanting to seem crazy. "Name sounded familiar that's all, I might have read something about him once." She said with a shrug, "Don't remember what, never mind." She added scratching the back of her neck.

James simply blinked once more as he removed his leather clothes slowly, placing them back into his pockets.
James: "Alright then. Well, if you experience any problems, this including delusions, constant dizziness, rough headaches throughout that region of the cranium, the feeling of being light headed, or any other effects along those lines, give me a call at this number, or visit your local doctor and explain to him exactly what happened, and is happening."
James as he drew a card from his pocket slowly yet smoothly as he held it up to her.

Afterword, the young boy would rise from his seat as he walked past them, his eyes closed.

Hitoshi: "Ready James...?"
The boy asked as he stopped at the door, looking toward him.

James: "Yes sir."
James spoke quickly as he looked back at the female. He set his card onto her table as he bowed once again.

James: "Take care, Milady. And do try to work on that clumsiness..."
He said, chuckling faintly as he made his way toward the boy, meeting up with him they both walked out of the cafe, heading to a rather old fashioned yet fancy car as they both got in and drove off toward the east side of Tokyo.

Alexander stood watching as they left then slowly looked at Violet.

Alexander: "So.. what do you think...? I believe he has my laugh..."
He spoke, cackling softly.

She picked up the card giving it a look over before putting it into her pocket. "I'm not clumsy just off today..." She muttered and then turned her attention to the shinigami nodding her head towards the back door, she left the Cafe into a back alley. Pulling a smoke out of her pack she lit. 'How dose one become a shinigami? Clearly he was once human... this is all to much it upsets my whole world of logic...' She frowned pushing away the thought and waited for the Shinigami outside.

After the first huff of smoke went out, it slowly morphed Alexander's form once again as it did back at her secret hideout.

Alexander: "So.. what do you want this time around, woman..? You have already given away one of my death notes... Do you expect me to give you another..?"
He spoke slowly, laughing faintly as he pointed at her slightly.

"Did you really think I would use that book?" She asked with a smirk. "I don't need a death note to kill someone. I do that just fine on my own. L can have it i have what I need to bate the former users." She explained.

"How the hell can you have a grandson? How did you become a Shinigami? And why do you think i want something? Your the one who popped up, i didn't call you, i just didn't want to talk to empty space in front of a room full of people."

Alexander laughed faintly as he looked around slightly.

Alexander: "No I suppose I didn't expect you to use it... though you still wanted to.. you can't honestly deny the fact that getting rid of that man so easily wasn't somewhat of a dream come true..."
He spoke with a chuckle as he gazed at her.

Alexander: "I assume you want something because humans always do.. and indeed you do want something, for you have question.. questions that obviously you want answers to..."
Alexander chuckled softly as he would turn his neck one way to make a cranking noise.

Alexander: "Where to begin.. Well for starters.. I have a grandson the same way any other mortal does.. They form their own offspring, and in to which that offspring forms their own as well.. thus making me a grandfather, and him my grandson.. As how I became a shinigami..? Well.. that I could answer.. but that would take away from the fun of the play, wouldn't it...? No spoilers, woman.. sorry..."
He said slowly as he cackled, gazing upon her.

"Well i didn't have question until you popped up so might as well ask while you are here." She replied flicking the ashes off her cigarette. "I don't find killing people with the swish of a pen all that exciting, Give me a bloody battle to the end any day. But that's besides the point clearly you were once human so something you did made you this way. Perhaps writing in a center notebook? I knew there had to be a price for that kind of power!"

He simply chuckled as he pointed in between her eyes, his finger inches away from touching her.
Alexander: "Assumptions are never wise, woman... That indeed is apart of something that COULD happen to one who uses the death note, but only if the shinigami they were working with decides they are to become a shinigami.. Even if I wanted this, I could not have it unless Leonardo decided to make me this way.. and I still have to thank him for it.. I've never felt so.. alive..."
He spoke rather ironically, laughing as he slowly lowered his hand.

Alexander: "And whatever price you believe the death note comes with.. you would not have to write in it for it to take effect.. Your debt became clear the moment you laid hands on it..."
He spoke slowly as he chuckled, gazing at her intently.

He simply chuckled as his jaw clanked about.
Alexander: "No.. us Death Gods think of you humans as our entertainment.. which is as close to the truth as it is going to get... You humans are all humorous creatures.. some more than others.. you all simply fight each other in simple, pointless wars and battles over things that make no sense.. We shinigami enjoy watching you all scramble and squirm over one single simple goal each of you have.. and would do anything to claim..."
